Transparency first

Affiliate Disclosure

Top10Choose earns commissions when you click product links and make a purchase. This page explains exactly how that works, which programs we participate in, and why it never affects what we recommend.

FTC disclosure requirement. The United States Federal Trade Commission (FTC) requires websites that earn money from affiliate links to disclose this clearly. This page and the sitewide notice on every Top10Choose page fulfil that requirement. We are committed to full transparency.

What is an affiliate link?

An affiliate link is a standard product or retailer URL that includes a unique tracking code identifying Top10Choose as the referring site. When you click one of these links and complete a purchase within the retailer’s attribution window, Top10Choose receives a small commission from the retailer at no additional cost to you.

The price you pay is identical whether you arrive at a retailer through an affiliate link or by typing the URL directly into your browser. Retailers fund affiliate commissions from their own marketing budgets, not by raising the price for referred customers.

Affiliate links on Top10Choose are visually identical to any other outbound link. They are not disguised, hidden, or marked as sponsored because they are not paid placements. They are standard referral links attached to products we have already chosen to feature based on our research.

How Top10Choose earns affiliate income

🛒

Amazon Associates

We participate in the Amazon Associates Program, the most widely used affiliate network for consumer product reviews. When you click a product link to Amazon and purchase within 24 hours, we earn a commission of between 1% and 10% depending on the product category.

🌐

Other affiliate networks

We also participate in affiliate programs through other retailers and networks including Impact.com, CJ Affiliate, ShareASale, and direct retailer programs. Where available, we link to local retailers such as Daraz for readers in South Asia, using affiliate programs where active.

📈

Commission rates

Commission rates vary by retailer, product category, and affiliate program terms. Typical rates range from 1% to 10% of the purchase value. Higher commission rates do not cause a product to rank higher. Commission rate is not a scoring criterion in our methodology.

🕐

Attribution windows

Most affiliate programs use a cookie-based attribution window of 24 hours to 30 days. This means if you click a link today and purchase within that window, the commission is attributed to Top10Choose even if you leave and return to the retailer’s site directly. You are not charged anything extra during this period.

What affiliate income does not influence

This is the most important section of this page. Our affiliate relationships are managed entirely separately from our editorial and scoring process. The following are firm rules that apply without exception:

Rankings are not for sale. A brand cannot pay Top10Choose to rank a product higher. Commission rate is not a criterion in our scoring methodology. A product that earns us 10% commission is scored by the same formula as a product that earns us 1%.
Selection is not influenced by affiliate availability. We cover products that are best for the reader. If the best product in a category does not have an affiliate program, we still feature it and link to it without an affiliate tag.
Scores are not adjusted for commercial reasons. A product score reflects our research methodology. It is not adjusted upward because a brand is an affiliate partner or downward to disadvantage a non-partner.
No paid removal. A brand cannot pay to have a product removed from a comparison or ranking page. Products are removed only when they are discontinued, unavailable, or replaced by a significantly better option.
Editorial and commercial teams are separate. The team that writes and scores products has no visibility into affiliate commission rates or partnership arrangements when producing rankings.

How products are chosen for our lists

Products appear on Top10Choose ranked lists because they scored well in our research methodology, not because a brand applied or paid for inclusion. Our process is described in full on our Review Methodology page.

In short: we scope the full product landscape in a category, define scoring criteria and weights specific to that category, gather data from multiple independent sources, apply a consistent 0 to 100 scoring formula, and rank products by their score. Affiliate availability plays no part in this process.

Where we have a sponsored content arrangement with a brand, that content is always clearly labelled as “Sponsored” and appears separately from our independently scored ranked lists. Sponsored content does not affect the scores or positions of products in our editorial rankings.

Why we use affiliate links

Top10Choose is a free platform. Every ranked list, buying guide, and product comparison is accessible without a subscription, paywall, or registration. Affiliate commissions are the primary revenue that funds the research, writing, scoring, and ongoing maintenance of this content.

We believe the affiliate model, when operated transparently and with genuine editorial independence, is the best way to fund a free consumer resource. The reader gets free, research-backed recommendations. The retailer gets a qualified buyer. We earn a small commission. No reader pays more.

If you would like to support Top10Choose at no cost to yourself, clicking through to a retailer from our links before purchasing is the most direct way to do so.
